Mavis & Noah x Tylani Stokes

Mavis & Noah x Tylani Stokes

We sat down with one of our first M&N’s and friend of the brand – Tylani Ngatai-Stokes. Tylani is a creative and photographer, who’s often contributing to the Mavis & Noah universe – be that her images in our jumper or a lifestyle reflecting what we’re all about; slow living, thoughtful design and creating memories. Based on the Sunshine Coast, Tylani shares a glimpse of her life, what’s inspiring her lately and the way she’s been connecting with Mavis & Noah.

Q.What does a typical day look like for you at the moment?

It usually starts slow- coffee in bed (thanks to my boyfriend Jesse), our dog Alfie squeezed between us for cuddles, and if we’re lucky, a walk to the beach before the day begins. After that it’s a mix: some days I’m glued to my laptop editing or in the rhythm of admin, other days I’m out shooting or planning for something coming up. I try to end the day in a way that feels grounding- watching the sunset from our balcony or back at the beach. Sometimes we’ll stop into Theo’s, our favourite wine bar, and sometimes we’re just home, playing board games, listening to records, cooking dinner. It’s not glamorous, but it’s peaceful. And I love that.

Q.What fuels your creativity?

Lately I’ve been making space to create just for the joy of it again- even if it’s small, messy, or never seen. I’ve learned that rest is just as important as output, so I’ve been prioritising time offline, slowing down, and getting out into nature to reset and reconnect. Travel always recharges me too- new places, people, the way light feels different somewhere else. That fresh perspective always brings something home with it.

Q.In what way are you connecting with Mavis & Noah?

The idea of slowness. I’ve been trying to live with more intention this year; more time off-screen, slow breakfasts, more travel. Even small things like a walk with Alfie, or staying home to cook something properly. I want to make space for better work/life boundaries. To be more present. Mavis & Noah feels like a reminder of that- soft, simple, thoughtful.

Jumper available here. Tylani wears size M.
